In the present talk our theoretical and experimental work in neutron rich
$^{132}$Sn region as well as near stability in $A < 40$ region will be discussed.
For $^{132}$Sn region, our most recent theoretical work for even-even A=138
isobars will be highlighted. The indication of exotic feature observed for
$^{136-138}$Sn, which is probably a new feature for the neutron rich isotope of
semi-magic Sn will be discussed. Motivations for studying the
astrophysical implication of this result will be indicated. In this
connection, our views on collectivity in the neutron-rich domain will be
mentioned.
If time permits, I shall briefly discuss our experimental as well as
theoretical studies for stable N~Z nuclei in $A<40$ region emphasizing that
the issues thought to be relevant for nuclei away from stability, should
also be studied over a broader region of nuclear territory. With the
latest developments in the experimental facilities, the nuclei near the
stability line should be re-investigated for finding possible correlations
with those away from stability.
