LHC cryogenic control system and dynamic transient management

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) makes use of a very large distributed cryogenic system over the 27 km of the ring. In order to operate properly this system and ensure a high cryogenic availability, an homogeneous and reliable control system is mandatory. This cryogenic control system must also cope with the different possible disturbances coming from the magnets and from the beams to always guaranty the cryogenic constraints on the different cryogenic equipment (superconducting magnets, RF cavities, current leads, beam screens, etc.). In the recent years, dynamic heat loads were higher than the expectations and different adaptations have been performed on the cryoplant arrangement and on the control systems to fulfil all requirements.
