TORIJIN-EFES- FJNSP LIA * Joint Workshop on: “Next Generation Detector System for Nuclear Physics with RI beams”
With the RIBF (Radioactive Ion Beam Factory) in RIKEN and SPIRAL2 in GANIL, Japan and France will deliver intense radioactive beams. To efficiently exploit these beams, vigorous efforts in detector developments and associated areas are essential. The technical challenges are numerous and the experience gained in the use of spectrometers/detectors of the first generation must be carefully considered to develop and apply new concepts.
The future detectors for both facilities are and will be designed in the framework of collaborative efforts. France and Japan hold regular meetings and the need to hold a workshop dedicated to technical aspects on spectrometers and gamma-ray detectors became more and more obvious.
This is why we propose to hold an informal workshop, strongly focused on technical aspects, with the goal to identify areas of common developments in the field of detectors for nuclear physics with radioactive ion beams.
This workshop will be held at GANIL, February 14-15, 2008. The format will be 30’ talks (20’ plus 10’ for questions) and ample time will be devoted to discussion. A preliminary programme is attached to the present announcement.
