Future prospects for high resolution gamma spectroscopy at GANIL
October 4th-6th - Caen, France
The SPIRAL 2 facility, a second generation radioactive beam facility, will produce from 2010 high-intensity, high-quality radioactive ion beams of isotopes from large regions of the chart of nuclei. High-intensity stable heavy ion beams, with energies up to 15 MeV/u, will also be delivered from the SPIRAL 2 injector and available for experiments. Together with the beams at inter-mediate energies from the current GANIL facility a wide variety of experimental programs can be performed, many of them using gamma-ray spectroscopy.
The purpose of this workshop is to discuss the future prospects for high resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy at GANIL. Special emphasis will be put on the technical developments/upgrades needed in order to fully exploit the future GANIL facility and in particular the new possibilities from SPIRAL2. The meeting also aims at forming new collaborations to prepare scientific and technical proposals for equipment to be developed and installed at GANIL.
The workshop will take place at the GANIL guest house. The meeting will start on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at 9:00 and end on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 16:00. It will include a one-half day EXOGAM users’ forum with presentation from recent experiments.
The workshop will consist of few invited presentations on subjects of general interest. The main emphasis will lie on presentations from working groups devoted to the topics listed below. Ample time for discussion is foreseen. All persons who are interested in participating in the workshop and in the preparation of the discussion should contact the corresponding conveners as soon as possible.
