What is EQUIPEX S3?

EQUIPEX (EQUIPements d'EXcellence) is a bunch of calls for proposals that aims to provide France with high-level scientific equipment, conforming to international standards, which have become a mandatory requirement for international competitiveness in many scientific disciplines.

EQUIPEX is part of the French Funding Programme "Investissements d'Avenir".

The ANR, Agence Nationale de la Recherche (French National Research Agency), has been designated as the principal operator of the actions of EQUIPEX, from the implementation of projects calls to the monitoring of financed projects. These large-scale actions amplify the innovation capabilities of France, and will play a leading role in the dynamics of future growth.

The S3 project, gathering 6 partners (GANIL, CEA/Irfu, CNRS/IPNO, CNRS/IPHC, CNRS/CSNSM and INSP), has been selected in the first EQUIPEX call. It will be funded at the level of 7M€ for the construction of the infrastructure , from 2011 to 2014, and for 1 M€ for the running period, from 2015 to 2019.
