How to propose an experimentHow to propose an experimentGANIL is a National User's Facility. It is available to a wide national and international scientific community. Beams available at GANIL:
Nuclear Physics - high-energy stable beams (from CSS1 and CSS2) available list here
Interdiscplinary Physics (1) - medium-energy stable beams (SME) Nuclear Physics Proposals:
In order to perform any test or experiment with beam at GANIL, users must submit a written proposal. Please note:
Proposals must be made on the GANIL Proposal for Experiment form together with a full description of the experiment. This description must not exceed 5 pages, and should be sent as a RTF or PDF file, together with the 2-page proposal form. Your file should be called Name_PAC_GANIL_month_year.(appropriate extesion) where "Name" is the name of the spokesperson and should be sent to the beam coordinator at this e-mail address(2): coordinateur at ganil.fr
(1) For interdisciplinary physics please contact: ciril at ganil.fr (2) If you are not able to send an electronic version, proposals may be faxed to The GANIL Beam Coordinator, at +33(0)2.31.45.45.86
The GANIL Program Advisory Committee (PAC)
The PAC meets twice a year to consider proposals for nuclear physics experiments to be scheduled during the coming year(s).
During this open meeting, the GANIL Committee will hear presentations made by the spokesperson for each proposed experiment. Each spokesperson will have 8 minutes to present his or her proposal to the PAC, plus 7 minutes in order to answer questions from the PAC members. Undefended proposals will not be considered for beam time. After all the proposals have been heard, the PAC will meet in closed session to rank the experiments and recommend to the Director the experiments selected to receive beam time. Each spokesperson will be advised of the recommendation of the PAC by e-mail within a few days of the meeting.
